Pencil Sketches

We spent last month working on drawing, and these are the final pieces. (I think they're great, but I'm their biggest fan!)

The first week, we drew with charcoal- fun but so messy! We drew basic forms, and learned about tone and shading. We saw the forms in other objects, as a way to see as we draw from 3-D objects. So the onions are a sphere, the vase begins as a cylinder, etc. (We continued with the form idea, doing castle drawings. Sorry, no photos of those.)

I brought in real peppers, onions, and garlic. And I brought in a few thrifted finds- vases, gourds, and fake fruit.

Oh, and some sea shells.  Didn't they do a good job??

More tomorrow...
